Do Your Own Fundraising

What can you do?
Fundraising for us is a great way of helping the Southern
Area Hospice Services continue their work in providing care
to patients suffering with terminal illnesses. With your help
we can really make a difference to the lives of many people.
You may already know what you would like to do but in case
you do not, we have lots of ideas to help get your fundraising
started!! Whether you plan to do charity fundraising at school
or college, at work or with your friends and family, the money
you raise will help more families.
Last year schools throughout the Southern Health Board area
raised more than £36,000 for the hospice. If you are
interested in finding out about the many ways in which schools
can help their local hospice please contact the fundraising
office (028) 3025 1333. Thank you for your continued support.
Coin Quest
Coin Quest is to continue in 2007 for the primary schools
and the copper hunt to continue for the secondary schools.
Coin Quest helps to inform all schools about the services
we offer and at the very least make sure that they know that
we are their local hospice and that they should be supporting
us. Cheque presentations and School Talks are offered to all
schools participating in order that we may increase our profile
within the local community and also the schools can increase
their positive profile.

Home Boxes
People take collection boxes and place them in their home
to collect loose change as a way of raising funds for their
local Hospice. When their home box is full, they return them
to the Fundraisding Office to be emptied.

Flag Days
Flag Days/ Street Collections were held historically in the
Newry & Mourne region. Over the past few years this has
continued to move to other towns and villages. SAHS need to
recruit as many locals as possible to assist during the Flag
Day. If you have any spare time and would like to help during
the Flag Day, please contact the Fundraising Office for more
information within your area.

Arrange
an Event
You could raise vital funds by organising
an event in your area such as:
• Arts or crafts stall/ exhibition/fair
• Auctions
• Car Boot Sale
• Dance Marathon
• Fancy dress
Many of these activities are quick and easy to set up while
others will take more time to organise. We suggest you choose
the one that you think you will enjoy most. If you would like
to organise an event in your area or get an information pack
for more fundraising ideas and tips telephone (028) 3025 1333
or write to the address shown in the ‘How to get a fundraising
Pack’ section.
