Mr Willie Maginess and Family and the McComb family presented a cheque for £5803.24 to Southern Area Hospice Services, in memory of the late Mrs Carmel Maginess. The family would like to extend this thanks to everyone who helped to raise this fantastic amount of money and made this fundraising for Hospice a huge success. Furthermore the family would like to sincerely thank Sainsbury’s, in Armagh for allowing them to hold a bag pack in store and Wolly Tom’s in Armagh for their support in holding a fundraising night recently.

Sign Up for Southern Area Hospice Parachute Jump
Southern Area Hospice Services is calling on all thrill seekers who are up for the ultimate adrenalin experience of a lifetime! Local charity, Southern Area Hospice Services, is encouraging anyone interested in doing a parachute jump to sign up for this event and raise vital funds for our local hospice.
The 13,000 feet tandem parachute jump event, run in conjunction with Moonjumper International, will take place in Garvagh on the 21st and 22nd of October and is certain to be an experience to remember!!
Local Hospice supporter, Clare Hazelton, said:
" Southern Area Hospice Services must raise £1.74 million this year so it can continue to provide specialist care treatment for patients and their families coping with terminal illnesses in the local community. We want to raise awareness about the fabulous work of the Hospice. Southern Area Hospice Services rely on donations from the local community from the Southern Health Board Area so participating in our sponsored parachute jump is a great way for people to fundraise for a valuable local charity".

Fundraising Support Group Established in Dungannon
Southern Area Hospice Services enjoys a huge support from the very generous community in the Southern Health Board Region. One avenue of support is Hospice Support Groups in the area such as Blue Dove in Banbridge, Friends of SAHS in Craigavon and the Mourne Support Group in Kilkeel, who help raise the vital funds the Hospice needs to continue to provide its special care services and the overall development of the Hospice care package.
Emma Trainor, Regional Marketing Officer for the Armagh and Dungannon Area, is on the look out for anyone who would be interested in becoming a member of the newly established local Hospice Support Group. Emma commented:
"Southern Area Hospice Services has tremendous support in the Armagh and Dungannon area, from volunteers, donations and community events and those who visit our Hospice Shop in Irish Street, Dungannon, for which we are very grateful. By setting up an established support group in the area we hope to build upon this local generosity and raise the profile of our local hospice. Our main aim is to reach our £1.74million fundraising target for 2006".
It is a sad fact that cancer affects one in three people in Northern Ireland. There are not many people whose lives have not been affected by cancer. Southern Area Hospice Services provide invaluable support and care to people suffering from cancer and other terminal illnesses living in the Southern Health Board Region, with the aim of providing the best quality of live for patients and their families. Dungannon Flag Day
Southern Area Hospice Services held a flag day in Dungannon on Thursday 6th July 2006. Local ladies, Clare Hazelton, Melissa Kay and Louise Johnson along with Hospice representatives Emma Trainor and Denise O'Neill dressed up as the Tweenies (Max, Bella and Fizz) causing quite a stir in the town centre!!
Max, Bella and Fizz took to the streets from the Hospice Shop in Irish Street, Dungannon. It was a really fun day for the volunteers and a great success for the Hospice raising a fantastic sum of £1307.90 and €38.28!!

Southern Area Hospice Services Support Group
Our local Hospice is currently looking for volunteers
to start up a Hospice Support Group in the Armagh and
Dungannon area. Southern Area Hospice Services provides specialist care
for people suffering from cancer and other terminal
illnesses living in the Southern Health Board area,
with the aim of providing the best quality of life for
patients and their families.
Services include in-patient care, out patient clinics
in the South Tyrone and Craigavon Hospitals, a day care
facility, home care, social work services and bereavement
counselling. All services are provided free of charge. As costs are in excess of £2 million per
year the Hospice relies heavily on voluntary donations
to continue providing this invaluable care. For more

Armagh Fashion Show
Local lady, Teresa Corrigan, from Benburb, is hosting a fashion Show in aid of Southern Area Hospice Services on Friday 31st March at 8pm in the Armagh City Hotel.
Clothes being modelled are from Moba, Main Street, Moira and Paul's Fashion, Moore Street, Aughnacloy with the models' hair being styled by Armagh's top styling salon, Petra's. There also will be various stalls selling accessories, jewellery, shoes and handbags plus much more.
Tickets, priced at £10, are available from Armagh City Hotel and will also be available on the night. All money raised will go to Southern Area Hospice Services, your local Hospice. The Hospice provides care, comfort and support to terminally ill patients and their families through a wide range of care services including In-Patient Unit, Out-Patient Clinics in Craigavon and South Tyrone Hospitals, Home visits and Bereavement Counselling.
Come along and enjoy an evening of high fashion and accessories and support your local Hospice. All are welcome.
