Fabulous Fashion Show as Shop Opens
There was more than a hint of glamour at the Southern Area Hospice Shop on Thursday 6th of April. Country singing star Susan McCann was the special guest as the shop took to the catwalk. Local Newry & Mourne Mayor Mr Pat McGinn also attended to give his support. The fashion show was held to mark the official opening of the new store and the Hospice Spring Clean 2006 campaign was also launched.
The Monaghan Street store was jammed to capacity as people tried to catch a glimpse. The Hospice Fashion Show gave a thrilling display of beauty, creativity, vibrant colours and up to date style. The clothes used in the showcase were all based on what was available in the shop for purchase. The fashion show included a display of daywear, eveningwear, business wear, children’s clothing and bridal wear.
The Southern Area Hospice Services relocated its Hospice Shop early this year to 1c Monaghan Street after nine superb years at Cornmarket. This move provides a quantum leap in retail access, practibility, space, service and support that we can offer to our customers. The new modern premises doubles the former capacity and will help the hospice meet demand and effectively display more of the donated clothing and bric-a-brac. Shop Manager, Geraldine O’Neill, spoke about the importance of the Fashion Show:
“The fundraising target this year is £1.7m and we hope this fashion show and our new shop will go someway towards this. We need to raise awareness of the Hospice and the importance of this organisation.”
The new shop’s spacious, vibrant and attractive layout and positive store environment creates a valuable shopping experience for our customers. So why not come and see the wonderful offers and stylish clothes? You will definitely pick up a wonderful bargain and enjoy your visit.
If you have a few bags of unwanted clothes, ornaments, books, DVDS, music, toys or other items, please leave them into any of the Southern Area Hospice Shops in Newry, Banbridge or Dungannon. It will be a fabulous help.

Hospice Spring Clean 2006 Campaign
Spring clean your wardrobes and help us to help others
It is springtime and many people are starting their annual spring clean. Are you one of them? Do you need to get rid of unwanted items? Instead of throwing them in the bin why not drop them off in a black bag at your local Hospice Shop?
Launched by Susan McCann on the 6th April the Hospice Spring Clean 2006 Campaign aims to encourage people to clear out their wardrobes in aid of the Southern Area Hospice Services and donate items they no longer need. Campaigns, such as Hospice Spring Clean 2006, are crucial in raising awareness in a fun and practical way while raising funds to help pay for fundamental medical care. This year the Southern Area Hospice Services needs to raise £1.7 million through community events and campaigns with the vital help from the local community. Geraldine, the Hospice Shop Manager, stated:
“We are excited by this new campaign as it will help raise vital funds for the Hospice and hopefully it will provide a huge boost to our shops' fundraising efforts”
