Chaplaincy Support

The Chaplaincy Team
The Hospice Chaplain is available to:
- Patients
- Their families
- Their carers
Role of the Chaplain
The professional Chaplains are part of the multidisciplinary
team.
Their Work Reflects:
- Sensitivity to multi-faith and multicultural realities.
- Respect for our patients’ spiritual and religious preferences.
- A consciousness of the uniqueness of each individual.
The Chaplains are present for everyone, irrespective of their
beliefs to:
• Listen, talk to and journey with the patients
and relatives.
• Meet the spiritual and religious needs of the patient.
• Act as a liaison with the various local Ministers.
• Provide relaxation and meditation or pray with
the patients if they so wish.
• Participate in individual and group bereavement
sessions and programmes.
• Conduct funeral services.
• Contact the patient’s own Minister or Priest,
if requested.
Ministers of Religion
Ministers of the various churches visit on a regular basis.
Planned services are provided, and others by request. For
all denominations, the Chaplains, following consultation with
the patient, will liaise with their relevant Minister, Priest
or others, to arrange a personal visit.
In the Hospice there is a chapel, affording a quiet space,
which is available to all denominations.
