Hike the ‘Hills of Donegal’ for Hospice this Autumn

This year’s Hospice Annual Autumn Walk will be heading to the breath-taking Urris Hills in Co. Donegal on Saturday 7th October.

Walkers will travel by coach from Southern Area Hospice to Inishowen.  The guided walking route will take approximately 4-5 hours and cover 10kms of stunning scenery.  With breath-taking scenery, golden beaches, rugged islands and a beautiful array of wildlife, this northern - almost untouched - stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way is an absolute essential must-see.

Hospice PR & Events Officer Grainne Mulgrew explains “This year’s walk is such a fantastic route, the scenery is amazing and the walk offers something for all ages and levels of fitness... having recently completed the route with some of the guides from Swilly Hiking Club, it is one of the most beautiful walks I have ever done!  And as always there will be plenty of craic along the way with the group, so I would encourage people to sign up as places will be allocated on a first come basis.”

The Autumn Walk Package includes coach travel from Newry to Donegal, a guided walk around the Urris Hills and an overnight stay in the Strand Hotel, Ballyliffin with Dinner, Bed and Breakfast in the Hotel and a night’s post-walk relaxation with fellow walkers, travelling home on Sunday.

Last year’s Autumn Walk to Horn Head in Dunfanaghy was a great success raising over £13,000 for Southern Area Hospice, which is a fantastic boost to funds.  This year the Hospice must raise £2.5 million in order to continue providing valuable services to patients and families living in the Southern Health Board area.

To register, participants are asked to pay a non-refundable deposit of £50 to secure a place and raise a minimum sponsorship of £250 which covers dinner, bed & breakfast, guided walk and return transport.  Sponsor cards are available on registration.  Please note that places are limited!  If you would like more information or to register please contact Grainne on 028 3025 1333 or email
