Newry & Mourne

• Mourne Support Group
In 1986 a group of six ladies from Mourne got together to raise awareness and fundraise for hospice services. Mrs Margaretta McCullough started the group, following the death of her husband and in 1989, when the Southern Area Hospice Services opened in Newry; the group began to fundraise for their local Hospice. Since then, with the support of the people of Mourne, the Mourne Group have raised over £1/4 million for the hospice. It now has 20 members, including four founding members. They hold monthly meetings and organise a variety of events throughout the year, such as coffee mornings, raffles, street collections and church gate collections.

• Drumgath, Rathfriland
Patsy McPolin is chairman of Drumgath Support Group, while wife Joan is the support groups' treasurer. The group have been supports of the Hospice since 1995 and raise money through large raffles with generous donation given from the local community. As well as selling Hospice lottery, Patsy also supports the fundraising department by empting collection boxes in the area and is a loyal volunteer to the annual Bop to u Drop event in the Canal Court Hotel. • Cullyhanna Fundraising Committee
Cullyhanna Fundraising Committee have been supporting the Hospice with fundraising efforts for many years in the Cullyhanna area. The group organise various events throughout the year including a sponsored walk and Christmas Fundraising Night, which is always a very successful and fun night.

• Crossmaglen
Crossmaglen Support Group is lead by local man Aidan Murtagh. There are a variety of events held during the year within the Crossmaglen area, including the Crossmaglen Flag Day, which is supported annually by pupils from St. Joseph’s High School, who generously give up their time on the day.

• Castlewellan Support Group
Castlewellan support group is lead by Jimmy Cowan.
Some of the annual events in this area include the annual May Day and November Fair street collections.
