Light up a Life Appeal
By remembering your loved ones at Christmas and dedicating a Light on our Christmas Tree in their memory, you will be helping to extend our care to many more people in need, not only at Christmas but every day of the year.
The Hospice Christmas appeal, Light up a Life, centres around our very special Christmas Trees in Banbridge, Dungannon and of course the one here in the grounds of the Southern Area Hospice in Newry.
Hospice supporters, relatives of patients and the general public are invited to sponsor a light on our Christmas tree in memory of a deceased loved one, for the intention of a friend or family member who is still with us or as an alternative Christmas Gift.
With the help of our supporters, our Christmas trees are covered in thousands of little white lights, all sponsored by people like you and me wishing to remember our loved ones.
Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for those of us who have lost someone close. Many of those who come to see the tree here at the Hospice tell us that knowing one of the little lights is for their mother or father, brother or sister, husband or wife, son or daughter really helps to comfort them.
Southern Area Hospice Services owe much of the success of this appeal to the generosity of our local Royal Mail postal workers who kindly deliver to all homes throughout the Southern Health Board Area at no cost to Southern Area Hospice Services and as their contribution to the work of their local hospice.
If you would like to support this appeal, please fill in the dedication form delivered to your home to dedicate a light on the hospice Christmas tree and return it in the envelope provided. Alternatively contact the fundraising office on (028) 3025 1333 and request a ‘Light up a Life’ dedication form.
The ceremonies to illuminate the tree will be on Thursday 7th December @ 7.30pm - please see local press for full details at the beginning of the festive season.
All Dedications will be accepted until Christmas.
