Southern Area Hospice Services thank St. Patrick’s Academy for Voluntary Work

9/3/2016

Southern Area Hospice Services’ Volunteer Coordinator, Rosie Teggarty, recently paid a visit to St. Patrick’s Academy in Dungannon to talk to the pupils about the work of Southern Area Hospice Services in the local area and to award the school with a certificate in recognition of their voluntary support of Southern Area Hospice Services over the past number of years.

During the current academic year alone St. Patrick’s Academy pupils have assisted with a street collection and a bag pack which collectively raised almost £2,000 for Hospice Services. Many of the pupils have also signed up to volunteer at the Southern Area Hospice Services Car Raffle which starts on Monday 21st March 2016.

Speaking at the presentation Rosie said, “Southern Area Hospice Services simply could not continue to provide their care without the support of their volunteers. We are so grateful to all of the pupils of St. Patrick’s Academy who have given so generously of their time to date and we look forward to continuing to work with St. Patrick’s Academy pupils in the future.”

Southern Area Hospice Services is a local charity which provides care, free of charge to local people who are living with Cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, such as Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease. Care is provided through a number of services including a Day Hospice in South Tyrone Hospital, Dungannon and a Hospice Resource Centre on Irish Street in Dungannon. In order to continue to provide care and support to local people and their families, the Southern Area Hospice Services fundraising department must raise £2.42 million in 2016 alone. They rely heavily on the support of volunteers to help them to achieve this.

At present Southern Area Hospice Services urgently require volunteers to assist with their Annual Car Raffle which will begin in the Oaks Centre, Dungannon on Monday 21st March and will visit various venues in the Armagh and Dungannon area until the draw takes place on Saturday 25th June 2016. If you can spare any time at all and would be willing to assist we would love to hear from you. There are various times available including daytime, evening and weekend.
