On 20th February 2006 the Southern Area Hospice Services relocated its Newry Hospice Shop to Monaghan Street Newry. After nine superb years at Cornmarket, this move provides a quantum leap in the retail access, practicability, space, service and support that we can offer to our customers. The new modern premises doubles the Southern Area Hospice Service’s former capacity in the Cornmarket building and will help the hospice to meet demand and effectively display more of the donated clothing and bric-a-brac. The new shop’s spacious vibrant and attractive layout and positive store environment creates a valuable shopping experience for our customers and enjoyable working experience for volunteers. One of the Hospice shop volunteers, Bronagh Fearon, stated:

"The new shop is a vast improvement to the last shop. It is much more bright, spacious and inviting for both the customers and volunteers.”
Another volunteer, Breeda Green, quoted:

"I have a lot of memories from our old shop as I was a volunteer there from it first opened nine years ago but I am glad to be moving on. The new shop is bright and airy with more room to display clothes and bric-a-brac making it more comfortable and an absolute pleasure to work in.”
