Local Businesses ‘Step It Up’ for Southern Area Hospice raising £24,687
The winners of Southern Area Hospice’s inaugural ‘Step It Up’ corporate challenge have finally been revealed with CCL Services (Newry), Lindsay Bonner’s Slimming World Groups (Kilkeel and Newcastle) and Specdrum Engineering (Dungannon) scooping the top prizes for raising the most money in the small, medium and large business categories respectively. In total, 23 organisations across the Southern Health Board Region took part in the challenge which encouraged work teams and colleagues to take 10,000 steps every day in the month of May, and combined the companies raised an outstanding £24,687 for Southern Area Hospice’s vital palliative care services.
Sean Boyle, Partnership Development Officer at Southern Area Hospice, commented; “With an annual fundraising target of £3.6 million, without the support of local organisations, we simply would be unable to provide our much-needed services. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the local business community for fully embracing this challenge as a means to boost the physical and mental wellbeing of their employees. Feedback from the organisations involved suggest it was a highly enjoyable and rewarding experience and we are already in the early stages of planning for next year’s campaign!”
