Current Volunteer Vacancies (July 2024)
Volunteers bring a wide variety of skills that complement the work of our Hospice providing a vital contribution to the high quality service that we provide. There are currently several volunteering opportunities available which include: driving (deliveries or patients), fundraising, complimentary therapy and in our offices. Could you spare a few hours a week assisting us with any of the following roles:
Delivery Drivers (Newry)
This role requires the collection & delivery of a number of items to various locations in Newry (i.e. post office, hospital, chemist, shops). Volunteer assistance is required once or twice weekly for approximately 1- 2 hours in the early afternoon. Full clean driving licence and use of a car is essential.
Counters (Newry)
Required for our finance department in Newry, we are looking for volunteers who have either a background working with money or admin to help count money from various campaigns. Training/shadowing will be provided. Either a regular weekly slot (Monday mornings or added to our relief list to help cover sickness/holidays.
Patient Drivers (various locations)
From time-to-time volunteer drivers are required (where there is no means of suitable transport available) to bring people to Hospice to attend appointments within our Community Services department. This will be for few hours each week for blocks of 4 – 6 weeks (depending on demand). A full clean driving licence is required as well as access to a car. A caring and patient manner is essential.
Reception (Fern House – Newry)
Required for Fridays from 10am – 2pm, a friendly & welcoming volunteer is being sought to cover our reception in Fern House (the location of our finance & fundraising team). Greeting visitors in person and dealing with phone enquiries as well as assisting with some light administrative duties are the main activities.
Reflexologists (Dungannon)
Could you spare 2 -3 hours per week time to support our Community Services Hub in Dungannon? We are looking for volunteer reflexologists to join our friendly team. Candidates would need to have a recognised qualification and be a member of a professional association.
Chapel collectors (annually – various locations)
Our chapel collections take place on an annual basis from November – February in several locations within the Southern Trust. We are seeking warm & friendly people in all areas to help collect either before or during chapel services. These collections will take between 15 – 30 minutes.
Fundraising Event Volunteers (all areas)
To assist from time to time with fundraising events throughout the Southern Trust area.
